Eibsee

Eibsee is one of those lakes  in Bayern, but i can assure you that this is the prettiest one!

I took this picture almost two years ago during my first visit. You can reach this lake simply by using the public transport. The easiest and the cheapest way is by using the “Bayern Ticket” or Bayernkarte from the Deutsches Bahn,  basically, this is a daily ticket with basic price of €25 for one person and €49 for up to 5 person, and the most important thing is : valid for all means of public transport in the Bavarian region. Your journey will start from the München Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station) , take the train to Reutte in Tirol (train leaves every hour at minute of 32) and your stop will be Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from here you will continue with a bus to the lake, the journey with the train and the bus are 1:22 and 41 minutes, respectively.

And this will be the view on your way to Garmisch :

And as addition, the bus from Garmisch to the Eibsee is not operated by the Deutsche Bahn, thus you need pay an extra ticket of €4 or €5 per person.

Once you are in the lake you can rent the boat and row it around the lake.

Another thing you can do while you are in Eibsee is : walking or circling around the lake. I didn’t do it in the summer, but i did it in the last winter when i revisited the lake.

This is the same lake during winter time. The surface of the lake was totally frozen that you can almost walk across the lake.

And this is your walking  path  around the lake during winter time.

You should also notice that there is only one restaurant in this area, serving typical Bavarian food (grilled sausage, grilled chicken, grilled fish, grilled pork etc.) and also one ice cream vendor. If you are not accustomed to this type of food, you can prepare your own from home, or grab some fast food at Munich central station.

If you made it to the lake, let me know your impression in the comment section below.
