Arun NGL (Natural Gas Liquefaction) lies in Lhok Seumawe, Northern part of Aceh, Indonesia. About two weeks ago i got a chance to make a visit to take some samples and thermograph pictures from their LNG Plant. The Arun NGL once was the biggest LNG plant in the world back in 1990. During their golden period, at least there were 230 ships come to their LNG port in a year.
I had a chance to stay for three days in Lhok Seumawe. There is no direct flight from Jakarta to Lhok Seumawe, so i had to make a transfer in Polonia Airport (Medan). The flight from Jakarta to Medan and Medan to Lhok Seumawe were about 2 hours and 45 minutes respectively. I was stay in Arun Guest House during the visit. The local people were busy with the campaign of the governor candidate, posters & banners was in every corner of this beautiful town.
